A wheezy bit of sound and music for the Guardian's robotic career potato
Columbite Tantalite
This is a short film called Columbite Tantalite, written and directed by Chiwetel Ejiofor, for which I did sound editing and music – as part of the Young Vic series with the Guardian. Click on the image to view the film.
G whizz
This is a Berger and Wyse sequence for the Guardian, for use in their videogame reviews etc. We devised it together, then Joe went off to draw and I got clattering away in the studio. The idea was to cast the "g" in a few iconic games and write a soundtrack that goes from 8-bits to the full orchestral monty. Memories of a time when a dose of Defender cost you 10p – and your thumbs.
A little movement off the seam
Hooked up with the nice people at Hoxton Redsox recently, and did the sound effects and music for a series of animations they created for Lords on the rules of cricket – voiced by Stephen Fry. I'm surprised the LBW one wasn't a two-hour feature.
Call me Ishmael
A small taster of the sights and sounds of Silver Banks, in the Dominican Republic, from a trip I was lucky to take part in with TBA21, made possible by Francesca von Habsburg. On board the boat was a combination of film-makers, sound recordists and scientists, collaborating on a range of projects, from collecting data on the whales and coral reefs, underwater photography, documentary making and recording the deep blue sounds of humpbacks and coral life for future artworks by Jana Winderen and Chris Watson. Quite a melting pot, and there's more about the TBA21-Academy here. Below is sample of the kind of whalesongs we recorded, some of which continue for 40 minutes or more.
